Hepatitis A in the Czech Republic

According to media reports there has been an increase in the incidence of hepatitis A in the Czech Republic [1]. Cases appear to be localised to the Prague area, but spread to outlying regions has been reported.

Advice for travellers

Hepatitis A is a viral disease that causes inflammation of the liver and is transmitted through contaminated food or water.

Travellers to the Czech Republic are advised to practise strict food, water and personal hygiene precautions. A vaccine against hepatitis A can be considered for those who are at increased risk.
